Transition program

Old Orchard Primary School offers a comprehensive program to assist your child in making a smooth and successful transition to school. The program includes:

  • Three Prep Fun sessions
  • Three Lunch / Storytime sessions
  • Orientation Morning

Children are not expected to attend all of the above sessions, but will certainly benefit from attending sessions if they are able to do so. Parents are also expected to attend our Prep Parent Induction Evening in November.

Prep Fun Sessions (3):

Three Prep Fun sessions are planned during Term 3. These sessions are offered in various timeslots and serve as a positive introduction to school life where children are able to gain first hand experience participating in activities with our Prep teachers in their classrooms. To ensure that our group sizes are manageable, please confirm your child’s attendance.

Lunch / Storytime Sessions:

Three Lunch / Storytime sessions are offered in Term 4. Children attend school from 12.00 pm to 2.00 pm and participate in activities in one of our Prep classrooms. Your child will eat lunch and then join all Old Orchard Primary students for the 50 minute recreational lunch break. At the conclusion of these activities children will be collected from their allocated Foundation classroom.

For the Lunch / Storytime sessions children will need to bring lunch, including drink, in a named bag. As we have a Sunsmart policy children will need to bring a hat (named).

Children do not need to bring anything to Prep Fun sessions.  If you have any queries, relating to these programs, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
