Copy of Nude Food Week

Nude Food Day is a nationwide initiative developed to encourage kids and parents to eat well and live well, and reduce the rubbish in our school ground.

We are asking students to consider our environment and make a difference to the footprint we leave behind when we use packaging.

Go Nude Food, because it is an investment in the future. It uses less packaging and energy and it saves money. Most importantly, it will reduce the rubbish in our school ground.

Amazing Race

The students will follow “scavenger hunt” type clues to make their way around the streets surrounding Old Orchard Primary School.  We will be contained within the parameters of Koonung Road, Katrina Street, Koonung Oval and Springfield Road.  All students will be placed into groups of no more than 5 students (with a mix of Year 1 and 2 students in each group).  Each group of 5 students will have adult supervision to assist them in their “Race”.

In Week 3 this term the grades that reduced the rubbish in their lunch box the most were 1AS, 1KD, 5LT and 5KP. We had a total amount of approximately 1600 different types of wraps and packages across all grades. We are hoping to bring this number closer to zero.
