STEM

The STEM program at Old Orchard Primary School encourages curiosity, creativity and problem-solving through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Students explore concepts from Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in a supportive environment that promotes investigation, collaboration and critical thinking.

STEM is taught from Prep to Year 6 in our dedicated STEM room, a well-equipped space designed to support experimentation, design and innovation. Through the program, students explore the Victorian Science Curriculum while also developing important skills such as questioning, researching, designing and testing ideas.

Students participate in a range of practical learning experiences including hands-on science experiments, research and design projects, engineering challenges and robotics activities. These experiences encourage students to think creatively, work as a team and apply their learning to real-world problems.

Throughout their time at Old Orchard Primary School, students are given opportunities to explore scientific concepts, develop digital and technological skills, and experience the design process — from planning and building to testing and improving their ideas.
