Junior Scholars

At Old Orchard Primary School, we take pride in providing rich opportunities to extend and enrich the learning of our students. Our Junior Scholars are a select group who participate in weekly sessions designed to challenge their thinking and stretch their academic abilities.

This innovative program extends learning through collaboration, as students work together to solve real-world problems.

Junior Scholars projects follow three key stages:

Investigate
Students are introduced to a project and begin to unpack it as a team. This may involve observations, research, data collection, and analysis.

Innovate
Students apply their problem-solving skills to develop meaningful solutions. This could include planning, modelling, designing, or drafting.

Inspire
In the final stage, students implement their solutions and share their learning and successes with the wider school community.

Junior Scholars sessions are carefully planned with students’ interests and learning needs in mind and are led by Meg McKinley. The program runs weekly from our Junior Scholars Hub.
